Functional Nutrition is a science/evidence-based integrative approach to wellness that takes into account an individual's biological, biochemical, and physiological makeup and how they live - dietary choices, movement/exercise, environment, stress, and relationships.

The body is one, interconnected unit of systems: integumentary (skin, nails, hair), skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive.

A functional nutritionist is versed in the science of how nutrients are digested, absorbed, utilized, transported, stored, and eliminated by the body. In order to thrive, our systems must be nourished and in balance. Imbalances and dysbiosis affect our gut, skin, mood, energy, head, weight, hormones, and overall sense of well being.

Functional Nutrition aims to address the roots of the tree (causes), not merely the branches and leaves (signs and symptoms).

  • Individualized, collaborative, person-centered approach to wellness.

  • Seeks to balance body and mind by addressing the root cause(s) of dysbiosis.

  • Food as medicine model with an intuitive approach for positive food relationships.

  • Off the plate support - examines sleep, environment, physical activity, stress, & relationships.

  • Evidence-based, utilizes the latest scientific research.

  • Empowers and educates.

Be your best self, be real with yourself, be self-compassionate, find your groove. Our groove changes throughout our lives. Let me support you on your health and wellness journey.

The Functional Medicine Tree

“If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.”
